Primary Controller (RAID)

SAS 6iR is a basic RAID card with 3Gbps throughput and support of level 0 and 1 arrays for a total of 4 harddrives.

Perc 6/I offers 3Gbps throughput and up to 256MB battery backed cache to improve performance through use of a Write-Back cache policy. This allows the RAID controller to send the data transfer completion signal to the host when the controller cache has received all the data in a transaction. Versus sending the data transfer completion signal once the data is written to the much slower storage device. The controller then writes the cached data to the storage device in the background freeing up resources and improving performance. Array options are 0, 1, 5, 10, 50, 60 and 0+1.

H700 w/512MB Cache has 6Gbps throughput increasing IOPS and an increased battery backed cache size of 512MB allowing for doubling the amount of data that can be stored in cache before accessing the slower storage device. Array options are 0, 1, 5, 10, 50, 60 and 0+1.

H700 w/512MB Non-Volatile Cache has 6Gbps throughput but uses 512MB of battery backed cache with Non-Volatile memory. In the event of a power cycle, the controller will write the data in cache to flash memory where the data can be retained for up to ten years. Array options are 0, 1, 5, 10, 50, 60 and 0+1.

H700 w/1GB Non-Volatile Cache has 6Gbps throughput but ups the cache to 1GB of battery backed Non-Volatile cache maxing your IO performance and reliability. Array options are 0, 1, 5, 10, 50, 60 and 0+1.

Redundant PSUs provide high availibility power to machines. If one PSU fails or looses it's AC power (if PSUs are on separate AC grids) the second power supply can carry the load.

This availability does come with a price in the form of an energy usage penalty.

PSUs opperate less eficiently at lower usages. Since power load will be spread accross active PSUs, those PSU's efficiencies will drop.
